When you start rootstrust after installing a new version, any new or modified Source templates will be written to your database. However, if new Source template descriptions have been added to an intermediate (rootsTrust.jar file only) release, the templates need to be downloaded and added to your database before you can use them.
If you attempt to use an uninstalled Source template, rootstrust will display instructions for downloading and installing.
You need not worry about installing multiple copies of a Source template, since rootstrust will only install what has not already been installed.
